At Our Lady of the Assumption School Enoggera, we understand the significance of beginning school and strive to make the transition into Prep as smooth and welcoming as possible for both children and their families.
Enrolling your child
In Queensland, your child will be eligible to start Prep when aged 5 years by 30 June in the year of proposed attendance. We accept Prep enrolments up to five years in advance, we encourage you to submit your enrolment application as early as possible.
If you would like to visit our school prior to submitting an enrolment application, we invite you to join us for a no obligation school tour. Group tours are held throughout the year however you may also request an individual tour with a member of our leadership team if you can’t find a date that suits you. Click here for more information.
All Prep enrolments must be submitted by the start of Term 1 (end of January) in the year prior to your child commencing school to allow ample time for all steps in the enrolment process.
Interviews
In early to mid-March of the year before your child starts school, we will invite you and your child to an interview with a member of our leadership team. This meeting gives us a valuable opportunity to learn more about your child, including their history and development. It also allows families to ask questions and explore what makes Our Lady of the Assumption a unique and special place for learning.
Enrolment offers
Offers for enrolment are sent out at the end of April. Upon receiving an offer, you will be required to complete a confirmation of enrolment form and pay a $300 enrolment confirmation fee. This fee is then deducted from your Term 1 fees the following year.
Getting to know your child
Throughout the year, your family will be invited to join us for meet and greet play dates, including activities like a teddy bear picnic and outdoor play in the Prep playground. These sessions are designed to help your child become familiar with their new school environment and to start forming friendships with peers.
During Term 3, we begin visiting kindergartens to observe your child in their current educational setting, providing us with invaluable insights into their development, strengths, and needs. We place a high importance on collaborating with kindergarten educators, as this partnership helps us tailor our educational approach to better support each child's transition into Prep. If a visit to the kindergarten isn't possible, we will arrange a phone call with the kindy staff to ensure that no child misses out on this beneficial interaction.
In Term 4, we warmly invite families to our Prep Orientation session. This key event is designed to equip parents with practical information to prepare their child for their first year of school. The orientation covers everything from daily routines to educational expectations, aiming to clarify any queries parents might have and to set a solid foundation for a successful school start. This session not only helps parents understand what their children will experience but also reinforces the collaborative relationship between home and school, ensuring that both are aligned in their goals for each child's education.
